Holidays

Things have slowed down a bit here in the crafting department.  I finished my Christmas cards and I made the ornament I needed for the ornament exchange.  I've been a horrible person and have yet to send it, but I think I'm also definitely a work in progress when it comes to mailing things.

On the up side (and on a completely unrelated topic), I got a Holiday VoxBox from Influenster!  I was pretty excited when it came in the mail.  I know, I'm still horrible about pictures, but I promise to get some up once I get using some of the awesome stuff they sent me.  I have an NYC New York City Color Liquid Lipshine (and it even came in a color I regularly use), a Kiss Nail Dress with these awesome little rhinestones to put on my nails, a Goody Quickstyle Brush, Quaker Real Medley Oatmeal+, EBoost Natural Energy, and a coupon to Sole Society.  I'm pretty excited about the Sole Society coupon because, for reasons I can't explain, I recently developed a thing for pretty shoes and I'm pretty sure I need more.

So far, I haven't tried any of it, but my husband is taking me on a date tonight, so we'll see what I get a chance to try out.  I'll keep you posted!

Please note:  I received all of these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.  I am not being compensated beyond that for my opinion of these products.

Some progress...

I know it has been awhile, but I have a bad habit of getting distracted by books.  A lot.  For now, the sweater is on hold so I can finish a blanket that I've been working on for just as long.  I'm hoping I can get it done sometime soon so that I can include it in a box I'll send to my in-laws.  It's always been intended to be a gift for my sister-in-law.  I just hope she still likes the color.

I did finish some Christmas cards, and I have our family cards cut out for my daughter to decorate.  I also need to make an ornament for an ornament exchange (way behind on that), but the ornament I have in mind is actually relatively simple, and very pretty.  Someday, I will actually start putting pictures on here so you, my imaginary readers, can see my projects.  :-)

Crawling Along

I have good news, and not so good news.  First, the good news.  I have made progress on the front left panel of my sweater.  I haven't gotten as far as I would like, but a good 2.5 hour movie got me that much closer to the top.  I'm actually slightly nervous about getting to the top of this panel because the directions say to follow the pattern for the right side, only opposite what is says.  Or something like that.  I mess things up all of the time, and I'm afraid of what will happen.  Fingers crossed, I guess.

On to the not so good news.  I mentioned earlier that some of my time is being taken up by building a Star Wars costume.  My husband helped me shape the chest and back pieces last week, and now we've both decided that the pieces are a little big, and don't really fit the way we want, and that shaping is just going to be too difficult with what we have.  So, we're going back to the drawing board and printing the templates a little smaller so the pieces fit better.  I think what annoys me about it is that I feel like I get really close to being finished, and then something happens and we have to start over again.  Oh well.  I will finish a project!

Success!

I have officially finished the right front panel of my sweater.  All that is left now is the left front, sleeves, the button holes and the space for the buttons on the front panels, sewing it all together, putting the buttons on...okay, there's still a lot to do, but at least step number two is now complete.  My husband even saw it happen, so he knows progress has been made, even if he doesn't really believe that it is going to see completion.

On another note, I will be pausing on the sweater this afternoon because my husband and I are actually members of a Star Wars costuming club and I am almost finished with that project, also.  Unfortunately, we discovered yesterday that a large portion of the kit will have to be replaced with something that will fit me better, so we plan to do some catching up today so that I can finish that project as well.  My goal is to be an official member within the next few weeks.  I offered to take on a leadership position in our local chapter because the current member in the position has been wanting a less active role, but I can't do it if I don't get official.  I guess we'll see how today goes!

Introduction

I read a lot of blogs in the course of my day, and it occurred to me that I should start my own.  In my free time, I am constantly starting projects and then hardly every finishing them.  My husband considers it the biggest running joke in our house.  So, in an attempt to force myself to finish my projects, I will be writing about them here in the hopes that even imaginary readers waiting to see what happens next will keep me going.  I have crochet, quilting, knitting, long stitch and counted cross stitch projects all in progress, so I will have plenty to write about.

With that being said, my current project is the Cabled Elegance Cardigan in the September 2010 issue of Crochet! magazine.  The pattern calls for using Plymouth Encore yarn, but I'm limited by what I can get in stores, and I have a fondness for Caron's Super Soft yarn, so I am making it with that, in navy blue.  I will post the picture of the cardigan when I get a chance.  My phone recently bit the dust, and I am waiting for a replacement.

I started the sweater with the intention of giving it to my mother for Christmas, and here we are 2 years later, and all I have done is the back.  I am currently working on the right front piece, and have about 2 inches left to go before finishing off and going on to the left front.  My goal now is to actually finish the project, and finally give it to my mom.  With your "help", maybe it will be done in time this year.
